Terms of Service
On iPhone and iPad there is no CroSum account — the app is account-free, Apple is the seller of record, and the sections below about accounts do not apply to you.
1. Provider
These Terms govern your use of the CroSum mobile app and the crosum.app website (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by:
- Cronicium (eenmanszaak)
- KvK number: 42069368
- Business address: Beneluxflat 19, 4701 BD Roosendaal, the Netherlands
- Contact: hello@crosum.app
By installing, opening, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please uninstall the app.
2. The service
CroSum is a personal-finance tracking and budgeting tool. It lets you record transactions, track recurring income and expenses, plan loans and savings goals, generate monthly reports, and view personalised recommendations based on the data you enter.
The free tier is fully usable for tracking purposes. Some features (additional loans / savings goals beyond the free cap, the twelve-month planner and its what-if scenarios, the recommendations page, the full monthly PDF report, and automatic cloud sync to your own Google Drive on Android, or your own iCloud on iPhone and iPad) are gated behind a paid subscription. Manual backup, restore and CSV export are free for everyone.
3. Your account
CroSum for iPhone and iPad has no accounts. You use the app without signing in, so everything in this section applies only to Android — except the age requirement, which applies everywhere.
- You must be 16 years or older to use the Service.
- One person, one account. You may not share account credentials.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
- You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings > Account > Delete account) or by emailing privacy@crosum.app. On iOS there is no account to delete; clearing the app's data (or deleting the app) removes everything, since it is all stored on your device.
4. Subscriptions and billing
4.1 Plans
We offer two subscription plans, priced in euros. The store you buy through — Google Play on Android, the App Store on iPhone and iPad — shows you the final price you pay, including any VAT that applies in your country, before you confirm:
- Monthly — €3.99 / month, auto-renewing (both stores)
- Yearly — €35.99 / year, auto-renewing (both stores)
4.2 Who sells you the subscription
Android. Google Play is the merchant who sells you the subscription, charges your payment method, and issues the receipt. CroSum receives only an opaque purchase token from Google Play that we use to validate your subscription state.
iPhone and iPad. Apple is the seller of record. The purchase is made and billed through your Apple Account in the App Store, and Apple issues the receipt. Because the iOS app has no CroSum account, your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, not to us.
In neither case do we see, store, or process your payment-card details.
4.3 Auto-renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access to paid features until then.
You cancel where you bought it:
- Android — your Google Play subscriptions page.
- iPhone / iPad — Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or the App Store app. Cancelling from within CroSum is not possible; Apple controls the subscription.
Refunds for accidental or duplicate charges are handled by the store that sold you the subscription — Google Play's refund process on Android, and Apple's (reportaproblem.apple.com) on iOS. Outside those processes, our refund policy is at our discretion.
4.4 Price changes
If we change a subscription price, the store will notify you in advance and will require your renewed consent before charging the new price, in line with its own rules. You can cancel at any time before the new price takes effect. On Android we will additionally email you at least 30 days beforehand where we hold an email address for you; on iOS we hold no contact details, so Apple's notification is the one you will receive.
4.5 Free trial
We may offer a 14-day free trial on the monthly and yearly plans to eligible new subscribers. The trial gives you full access to paid features at no charge. Unless you cancel before the trial ends — through Google Play on Android, or through the App Store on iPhone and iPad — your subscription renews automatically into the plan you chose at its then-current price (€3.99 / month or €35.99 / year) and your payment method is charged. You can cancel at any time during the trial to avoid being charged.
Free trials are limited to one per store account — one per Google account on Android, one per Apple Account on iOS — and the store, not CroSum, determines your eligibility. If you have already used a trial, you can still subscribe at the standard price.
5. EU 14-day right of withdrawal
Subscriptions are sold and processed by the app store you bought through, acting as merchant of record — Google Play on Android, Apple on iPhone and iPad. Your purchase contract is concluded with that store, and its checkout handles the EU consumer-law information duties around the 14-day right of withdrawal, including your consent to the service starting immediately.
Refunds and withdrawal requests are therefore governed by that store's policy: Google Play's refund policy on Android, and Apple's at reportaproblem.apple.com on iOS. You can cancel future renewals at any time through the same store.
If you start a free trial, nothing is charged during the trial; cancelling it before it ends prevents the first charge entirely, which gives you at least the same protection as the 14-day withdrawal period.
If you believe you are entitled to a refund and cannot arrange it through the store, email hello@crosum.app and we will help resolve it. (On Android, quote your account email. On iOS there is no account, so quote the App Store receipt Apple sent you.)
6. Not financial advice
CroSum is a tracking, budgeting, and reporting tool. It is not a regulated financial advisor and we are not licensed to provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
The recommendations the app produces are generated algorithmically from the data you entered, using general rules of thumb (e.g. "save 20% of income", "pay down high-interest debt first"). They are illustrative, not personalised. Don't make irreversible financial decisions based on CroSum without consulting a qualified professional.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app, except where the law expressly permits
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or any subscription
- Scrape, automate, or attempt to circumvent rate limits on our servers
- Impersonate another person or sign up with materially false information
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to store data you have no right to store
- Attempt to interfere with the Service's security or integrity
8. Limitation of liability
The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by Dutch law, our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to your use of the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in subscription fees during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, loss of data, business interruption, or any failure to achieve a financial goal — even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch law.
9. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time. Deleting your account removes your data from our servers within 30 days (subscription receipts retained for tax-law purposes per the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (e.g. abuse, fraud, attempting to circumvent billing). Where reasonable we will notify you first and give you a chance to fix the issue.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought before the competent courts of the Netherlands. Consumer-protection rights granted to you by the mandatory law of your country of residence are not affected.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Email everyone with an active account at least 30 days before the change takes effect
- Show an in-app banner on the next session after the change
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect counts as acceptance of the new Terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account.
